Journalists in China to cover the Olympics are unable to conduct the research necessary to do their jobs properly because China is blocking access to web sites that contain information about China's human-rights policies. This violates a promise that China made to give Olympic visitors open access to the Internet.
And, of course, the International Olympic Committee is doing nothing about China's broken promise, other than the IOC media boss saying he'll look into the matter. And really, what can the IOC do? The Olympics are coming to China. It's too late to do anything drastic. China made a promise, China broke the promise, and that's that.
Really, about the only thing any of us can do is read the Amnesty International report that the Chinese government wants to prevent people from seeing.

In all seriousness - it should be up to the blogs to report how things really are in China during the Olympics.
It will be interesting to see if MDS devotes the same attention to a geopolitical event like the Olympics as he does to minor-league fighting. My money's on NO. My money is also on AOL bloggers calling out MSM writers while not addressing any real issues. The corporate teat is juicy, ain't it, MDS? The Sun Shines For All, as long as all are paying attention to MMA.

MDS does spend way too much time on obscure brawlers. The blogs should be on the forefront of reporting what goes on in Beijing. However, I suspect the best that AOL will do as an aggregator is to cherry pick the safest stories to run.

Why should we be surprised? Communist China is in the business of telling lies and breaking promises. Remember their neighbor and good ally Kim Jong-il? Now there a guy you can trust, and he's just a peon compared to Big Brother Communist Nuclear China.
The Chines people be dammed as well. They are complacent participants in China's hypocritical Capitalist / Communist schizophrenic national identity. China please make a choice you can't be both. If you like freedom and the beniffits of a free market economy. Stop wasting the world's time with this Olympics Charade.
Get busy and over throw your government Take to the streets and don't not stop until you are free. (like that will really happen)
In fact we Americans should be disgusted that the US Team is even playing in the Communist Chinese Olympics.
By acknowledging the Communist's Olympics we help validate a China that is repressive, secretive, totalitarian and our nuclear enemy.
We are the idiots for bowing to the Communists at this time. China should not have been given the Olympics in the first place and to watch, to follow or support these games in any way is to show support for the Communist Regime.
