Jamaica has completed its Olympic sprint sweep.
Veronica Campbell-Brown won the women's 200 meters today in 21.74 seconds, beating American Allyson Felix by 0.19 second. Campbell-Brown won the 200 gold and Felix the silver in 2004 as well.
Jamaica's Usain Bolt had previously won the men's 100 and 200 meters and Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser won the women's 100. There's no doubt about it: Jamaica has taken the place of the United States as the world's dominant sprinting nation.

Shut the hell up, not everyone in Jamaica smokes Ganja, Does every Athlete that has ever perform for USA, take drugs? It's simple put, its the food that we partake of the fresh air, the Water (Ocean, Rivers) not polluted, the coaches, they systems we have in place, no matter how lacking our resources are, there is an event called Boys and Girls Championship, it helps to prepare the Athletes, they just don't get up one day and decide they will be smoking some weed, we start from the basic school level, you need to do some research before you open your ignorant mouth.

Unbelievable races. One thing we Jamaicans do not need is steriods nor ganga to run. If you can prove it scientifically that weed makes you go faster we need to see that proof. Funny how when the Americans are not winning they have a million excuses. Wake up and smell the coffee, Yu a go tired fi si wi face". Jamaicans rule.

You are so right. Americans think they have to be the best in everything. We dont need Jucie to perform. Most of us are very good in all we do. Deal with it, We are the Best!!

Yes, now that the US team can no longer get through with the drugs they cannot even run in a lane, much less to win in the olympics track and field. Yes, the pharmacy closed out on the US team!! Now that Marion Jones is in prison, the scare is on and the US team cannot perform. I'm so happy that Jamaica is showing to the world how true, clean talent can win a race. Test us as much as you want to, but this is the real deal!! This also proves why Jamaica's Merlene Ottey could only get bronze medals at the olympics - some of the US teams were under drugs. Go Jamaica, show them how track and field is done. Love the US, but show off pon dem Jamaica! Happy Birthday Usain Bolt!! When the US cannot win, they hate on those that win....but try all we are going to both 4 x 100 relays and win by large margins too! Don't hate, just celebrate! Peace!!

The US athletes that didn't obtain their goal didnt hate on the Jamacains (eg sheena and tyson...). they were either proud or said they blame themselves. One good thing about west indies people is pride but one downfall is pride, too.

it's too bad that Shelly-Ann Fraser did not go for a double like Bolt did...it would have been a great showdown withVeronica Campbell-Brown...

I must say now that having watched Usain after his blistering 200 metres run, it’s time for his coach to do some “father to son” talking. He’s really a kid at heart but his manner of celebration is definitely rubbing people the wrong way…..and we know how that can affect you in the press if they get their backs up.
I’m depending on Stephen Francis to advise Bolt on the sociably acceptable behaviour so that the pride that we all feel, will not be tarnished by any negative vibes.
Culture has a lot to do with what you’re seeing here. Usain is noted for his love of dancing. He frequents a particular nightclub in Kingston with his friends where the latest dance moves is the order of the day. The 100 metres dance was the “nu linga”…..meaning “I’m not slowing down”. The 200 metres dance was the “gully creeper”……meaning”a man living on the banks of a gully”. Usain is uniting the ghettos of this country in a manner which no politician or preacher could ever do.
I am praying that the euphora will subside enough for him to present himself in a more dignified manner. However, I can tell you that when I get in my car and drive out on the streets, amidst a sea of flags on every conceivable thing, the unity that I see between waring factions, is nothing short of a miracle.
God sometimes uses the simple to confound the wise and maybe, just maybe, the greatest gift this country will ever experience, is the sense of pride, belonging and purpose transmitted to unschooled minds via the antics of a “socially incorrect” young man by the name of Usain Bolt.
Much Blessing
Ceelee

I am not worried about all the negative comments about Jamaica's olympic team especially bolt. If people did their research or when the actually do it they will know that most of these athletes were around from as far as 2001/2002. most of them including Felix,L. williams etc ran at the world juniors in kingston in 2002 when bolt as a fifteen year old won the 200 m.
So what we are seeing is just the new generation of track and its very good that my little country Jamaica is dominating. Why all the negatives we have worked hard NO DRUGS, Please congratulate us just as how we have congratulated the GREAT Phelps. ITS JUST OUR TIME LET US ENJOY IT.

When you read some of the comments you do have to wonder if there is a brain or lack of a brain behind it. Let Bolt celebrate anyway he wants, that's the celebration of drug free body and mind. I don't think that some of the American athletes (I do say some) believe that you can actually achieve something without putting it into a pipe and smoking it or injecting it into their arm.
And for the idiot who believes that all Jamaicans smoke weed, think about your comment and then you will realize who is the weed head.
